Linda was born in Whittier, California. She moved to Corvallis with her parents, Frank and Joyce Eckles, in 1964. After graduating from Corvallis High School, she attended Oregon State University. She is survived by her husband Jeff Merten, four daughters, three grandchildren and three siblings. An obituary appeared in the Corvallis Gazette-Times.
