Update: Feb. 29, 2022: Have sold my Sixes home and returned to The Dalles. Truly miss the coast but I needed to be nearer family and good garden help is hard to find.

I live at Sixes, OR on five acres of forest land, called Elf Dell, four miles from the beach and twenty miles south of Bandon. In December 2010, my "old age house" in The Dalles was completed out by The Dalles Dam on the Columbia River. I bounce back and forth between my two homes; enjoying gardening and the woods at Elf Dell and to TD to see family and keep my tabs on rental properties. Also, regularly stop by my son's latest project, Clock Tower Ales, a pub (and coming soon brewery) in the second Wasco County Courthouse built in 1880s. I am completely retired having sold the family business (Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home) to my son, Mark.

I love retirement with time to do as I wish...whether it is digging a new flower bed, staining the deck, cutting down alder trees, baking bread, sewing, hiking the hills and beach, reading all day, traveling with the grandkids or just basking in the sun for an afternoon.

Life has had it ups and downs especially the last 10 years; a granddaughter has beat leukemia, my elder daughter, Kitty, died April 2014 after brave battle against breast cancer and the loss of my husband following a heart valve replacement in 2004. But I find great joy in each day with my wonderful family, good friends, being able to wander the woods and beaches and to be blessed with good health and strength.
